Whole Food Families

It amazes me every time someone says their kids will only eat hot dogs, pop, French fries and pizza.  Introducing your children to healthful foods at a young age does help with easier acceptance and enjoyment of it.  However, with patience and perseverance, good eating habits can be instilled at any age.  Children are routinely given fast food and junk food; this over exposure to unhealthy food is creating havoc in our youngest population. Our children literally become addicted to these high sugars, high fat, nutritive free foods.  Resultantly, diseases once reserved for the elderly are affecting our children at an alarming rate.

Many believe that hiding healthy food such as vegetables is a great way to get your kids the nutrition they need.  While this may work, it does not teach them anything about good eating habits.

The key is to model good eating habits yourself.  Children can also be involved in the preparation of meals, making them feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.  Sitting down regularly to one meal a day can also teach children the social pleasure of enjoying great food.
